Mr. Ray Langan, Motivational Speaker ran a workshop for First and Second Years as part of the school’s “Wellness Week”. He spoke about study skills, diet and exercise, exam prep and daily organization. His methods and actions were a big hit. Many thanks to Ms. Fiona Ronan, Careers Department for organizing.

The School Community would like to congratulate the 41 First Year Rowers from class 1C, 1D and 1E who took part in Rowing Ireland’s Indoor Championships in Neptune Stadium last Friday. They all performed amazingly. Well done to the medal winners. Many thanks to Ms. Emily Dulohery from Skibb Rowing Club who coached the teams. Many thanks to the PE Department for their support and to Mr. Fitzgerald for accompanying the teams on the day.
Congratulations to our Second Year Boys Basketball Team and their coach Ms. Marie O Mahony, who beat Listowel and Swords at home on Thursday to qualify for the All-Ireland Finals in Tallaght next Wednesday. Fantastic Result Lads. Well done!

Well done to our Senior Women’s Rugby Team who performed admirably in CIT today. They lost to St.Ann’s, beat Ursulines and Thurles CS and drew with Abbeyfeale the eventual tournament winners. Many thanks to the Leaving Certs on the team for all their service to the School over the last three years. Many thanks to Skibb RFC (Sana, Mark and Eimear) for the season. The TY Module Group and their teacher Mr. PJ Fitzgerald took a Field Trip to Drinagh Co-op in Drinagh last Friday. The Staff gave them a tour of the operations. They then went on to visit Mr. Michael and Mrs. Marguerite Crowley on their Open Farm in Bauravilla. Many thanks to Mr. Fitzgerald, the Staff of Drinagh Co-Op and the Crowley Family.
The School celebrated World Autism Awareness Day today by celebrating in the Home Economics Room with a coffee morning. There was tea/coffee, cakes and biscuits for anyone who visited. The English Department showed an educational video on Autism to every class to promote debate. The Home Ec Department decorated the school in Blue Balloons to recognize our students who are living with autism and to increase understanding and acceptance. Many thanks to all the students who helped out this morning. Many thanks to the Home Ec Department, Religion Department, SEN Department, SNA Department and English Department for their support.

‘Light It Up Blue’, annually observed on April 2nd is dedicated to raising awareness of Autism.
To celebrate ‘World Autism Day’ in Skibbereen Community School, please make an effort to wear a blue accessory on this Tuesday, April 2nd.
Take time to observe the blue balloons and the significant quotations which will decorate the building to raise awareness of Autism in our school.
There will be a small event organised in the Home Economics Department by the Transition Year students in the ‘Food and Hospitality’ class and the 4th years and L.R.C students will attend this event from 10 a.m to 10.30 a.m.
An animated explanation of Autism short video clip will be shown in all English classes on the day so please take time to enjoy and appreciate this clip.
Well done to the First Year Boys Football Team and their coach Mr. Dara Crowley who represented us in the Dr. O’Herlihy Blitz Cup in Clonakilty yesterday.

As part of her campaign she is presenting workshops on autism awareness.
Skibbereen Community School will be hosting one of these workshops.
