The French Department took their second years to the 29th Cork French Film Festival last Monday. They went to see the international renowned movie called " Le voyage de Fanny'. Thanks to Mr. Lynch and Ms. O Farrell for accompanying the students.
The Home Ec. Department held a Master Chef "Cook off" today for TY students. A number of teams entered and their dishes are pictured above. A team of judges had to make the difficult decision to choose the winner which will be announced next week. Thanks to all the Home Ec. staff for organising the event.
The History Department marked the 170th anniversary of the first public flying of our Tricolour. Mr. Thomas Francis Meagher, a Young Irelander raised the flag over the Mall in Co. Waterford on this day in 1848. The white of the flag signifies peace between the Orange Unionist Tradition and the Green Nationalist Tradition. It would not be flown again until 1916. This symbolism still holds forth today as our country is a welcoming place for all cultures, traditions, those with religions and those with none. Thanks to Mr. PJ Fitzgerald, Mr. Colman O Driscoll, Ms. Eileen O Mahony and Ms. Averil Cooke for helping to organise today's celebration.
Best of luck to our TY volunteers who travel to Romania today to do charity work with the Aurelia Trust. The group raised €810 from yesterday's school bake sale. The girls want to thank all the parents who donated baking yesterday, the Home Ec. Department who helped them organise and all the students who purchased the great array of cakes. Thanks also to Ms. Mary Rose O Brien, the school Chaplain who is accompanying the group.
