Talk on Romania

The school community would like to sincerely thank our past pupils Colin O’Driscoll, Aoife Crowley, Niamh Burns, Elena Forde, Eimear O’Driscoll and Rachel O’Driscoll, who recently took time out of their busy schedules to tell us about their recent trip to Romania where they helped vulnerable young adults.

Proceeds from our wonderful “Christmas Jumper Day” went towards this very worthy cause. Thanks to our Religion teachers Ms. Orla O’Sullivan and Ms. Deirdre Hennigan for organising the talk and to the 2nd years for attending.

School Sailing

Students Joseph Griffiths, 3rd Year and Fionn O'Connor, 1st Year travelled to Greystones Sailing Club South of Dublin with their boat to take part in the RS 200 Southern Championships 9/10 September. 24 boats entered the event including 12 youth teams from all over Ireland.

Due to a poor weather forecast, four races were sailed on Saturday in gale force conditions at times and rough seas. The weather was so bad by the fourth race that only four boats managed to finish including Joseph and Fionn who were the youngest team taking part. They finished in 8th place overall and were 4th youth team. They were also singled out by the race officer to congratulate them on their outstanding seamanship skills.

Reflection

A thought for those who have been bereaved.

Prayer for Courage

Lord, help me to be brave

Strengthen me to rise above my pain

As nature around me

Becomes, after a shower of rain

Bright, green, fresh and beautiful again.

After the parting of my loved one

I encounter a gamut of emotions

As they toss me around

Help me believe

That living in the shadow of the Cross

I face the light of the Resurrection

You, Lord, will help me to cope each day with my loss.

Lord, each day you make me braver,

As, with the suddenness of my loved one’s death

Life brings such unknown things.

Help me keep him close and you in sight

Trusting that out of the darkness of my night

Each new Dawn – will give me light.
